They immediately lowered crude prices so it was unprofitable to drill here. We need to develop our own reserves and get off the dependency of foreign oil. We should also develop alternative sources at the same time. It will take longer to develop alternatives than develop our own oil reserves. We should not be fooled by someone saying it will take to long to develop the reserves we have we really need to do both to gain our independence.

Leave the market to itself. Investigate where possible any attempts at market manipulation by traders and corporations.

tarmar Rookie Author Georgia Posts:2 Points:10,990 Joined:Sep 2008	Message Posted: Sep 19, 2008 6:10:17 AM Ignore tarmar Report Abuse Let the market handle it. 1) We need to decrease our consumption; 2) We won't decrease consumption if gas prices are 'tolerable' 3) There is no 'quick fix' 4) We must make long term plans that meet our long term goals 5) One of our long term goals has to be reduction of green house gases (which are greatly increased thru gas consumption) 6) More drilling means more future gas consumption means more green house gases means we're not meeting our long term goals 7) Therefore, more drilling is not a viable alternative

Since prices are currently declining and demand is lower, let's see how far prices will slide this summer into autumn.
