cool. Is the albedo any better than bright white? We know that blue stars are very bright, so why not blue paint. But, it's interesting that it's DARK blue.

Chemists create new heat-reflective paint? It's called WHITE or Silver paint, it reflects heat and Black paint absorbs heat. What's hotter in the rays of the sun - a White car or a Black car? Whatever the size or shape of the vehicle, Produce and ‘Drive’ vehicles with high MPG, are very safe, reliable, has a ‘reasonable’ cost and a good ‘value’ for the money. Consider using other forms of less expensive transportation to lower your cost. The price of fuel at the pump is too high! 12/22/2012!

If this works as intended it should be useful for dark color cars in those states where the sun heats up the interior like an oven.

Blue things look blue because they reflect the short-wavelength (blue) end of the visible spectrum. White things reflect all wavelengths of the visible spectrum. To reflect heat a material must reflect longer (infrared) wavelengths, which are not visible to the human eye so they do not contribute to color. Too bad neither the article nor video explained this.

This sounds promising. I find it hard to comprehend a dark color reflecting heat. Hope it is true.

The laws of physics determine how much heat or light a color reflects, so put you crayons away.

Someday they'll think of mixing the blue with red to make heat-resistent Purple. Saaay, maybe I'll take out a patent on that before they try it. "J Eric's Patented Purple Paint for Porsches."
